Transforming Data Into Information

IT Governance

A strong commitment to IT governance disciplines can ensure that an organization is spending scarce IT funds on projects that are strategic and aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.

A recent study conducted by the Center for Information Research (CISR) and published by the Harvard Business School Press indicated that firms with “superior IT governance” will have higher profits than firms with similar strategic objectives, but with poor governance. This finding becomes more significant with the extremely high number of failed projects.

ADC provides consulting expertise to fully evaluate an organization’s IT governance structures and effectiveness. Upon completion of an assessment ADC will recommend a roadmap to achieve the IT governance model most appropriated to the organization. That model will address:

  •  Governance Council staffing structure and procedures
  •  Project Charters with requirements to ensure IT alignment with business objectives
  •  Clearly established guidelines as to accountability and ownership
  •  Fully operational transparency and management oversight on IT spending
  •  Projects that are prioritized to aligning with company goal and resource management
  •  Risk management to affect mitigation, elimination, transfer or acceptance
  •  Performance monitoring (balance score sheets) and improvements identified
  •  Established “Go/No Go” milestone for projects
  •  Establishment of the optimal IT Governance landscape to include Portfolio Management, Service Delivery (ITIL), Program/Project (PMO) and Technology
